Sorry to read about the scam. If you weren’t able to cancel the debit card transaction were you able to retrieve the section of the contract with the serial number on? If yes, you could report the scam to Samsung and ask them to cancel the item’s guarantee so the next buyer gets quite a surprise! He may then go back to the shop if he is a local and cause quite a stir. I would also alert the USA embassy and Singapore Tourism, and also use social media to spread the word. Better luck on the next stage of your journey.

Sorry to hear of your troubles in Singapore. There are people waiting to take your money everywhere– like I’m telling you something new. I lived in Thailand for 10 years and even through the people are nice and for the most part honest I found that in the touristy areas I was always on guard.

I hope you were able to cancel the debit card transaction.
