Us

brothers

Jason (left) and Piers (right) are brothers who have become avid travelers and adventurers over the years. We became interested in doing a circumnavigation after realizing there is no better (or cheaper) way to see the world. We are not avid sailors and we don’t have a huge sailing background, but we’re learning quickly and have found the adjustment to life aboard to be pretty easy. Our starting concept for this journey was that it would be more fun and have longer lasting benefits if we did it while we were young (relatively anyway), so in early 2012 we decided to abandon our fears and just go for it. We often find ourselves outside our comfort as we push ourselves to find new and unusual experiences off the beaten path that most people wouldn’t think about…. we think that makes our adventure more interesting and we hope to inspire people to do the same.

The biggest part of any around the world adventure involves the people you meet along the way. Although we are the “full timers” on Tamarisk, the cast of characters of this story is already huge after just several months and we hope it will continue growing even faster as we bounce westward. You’ll often find friends, family, and new people we meet on board our boat and we’re thankful for every experience they give us. People, more so than the places, make the experience.
